We had been planning on a trip to Sogod
with a stay over during the night at Visayas State University (VSU) in
BayBay and then to Citi Hardware (Home Depot) in Ormoc. During the
week of April 11 something came up that pushed us to do the trip the
week of April 18.
On Sunday April 17 the Gideons were at
church seeking support. Talking with one of the Gideon presenters, Dr. Villamayor, we found out he is a professor at VSU. Flor had been wanting to stay at the hostel at VSU and the professor said he would reserve us a room with the invitation to attend their Wednesday evening church service and dinner at the campus guest house after the service.
On April 20 we had one of the neighbors
lined out to take care of the pig and goats and we headed to Sogod.
After taking care of our errands in Sogod we headed to VSU.
The guest houses, hostel, cottages and the pool are located on the beach off the Camotes Sea. It is a rock beach and is not good for swimming. With a beautiful sunset and smooth glassy sea to boast for, it is a nice beach just to hang out. When Dr. Villamayor came to pick us up for church, he gave us a tour of the university campus. We didn't get off our vehicle because we decided we are coming back the next day to explore the campus at our own leisure.
After the prayer meeting, we went to the guest house to have dinner, courtesy of Dr. Villamayor. Thank you, Dr. Villamayor. We parted that night with the hopes that we will see each other again on May 16 for the pastors' banquet in Hinunangan.

Flor's cousin is an elementary school teacher in Baybay where VSU is located and her husband, Dr. Sonny Sinon is head of the Abaca research center
at VSU. They live on campus housing and had invited us to
breakfast the next day, (Thank you, Rowena and Sonny). While waiting for her cousin to pick us up, we waited on the beach across the hostel and
watched the morning activities.
After breakfast we went to the guest
swimming pool. The campus has the sea on one side and mountain range
on the other side. Makes for a very scenic location as is shown by
the pool pictures.
After swimming we checked out of the
guest house and toured the VSU campus. VSU is the premier agriculture college in the Philippines. And it is a beautiful
campus.
Administrative building and amphitheater.
There is an Olympic sized swimming
pool located on the hill. There were students practicing their diving when we got there.
Across from the pool on the other side of the road is a huge, huge, tree that JJ thinks would be perfect for a tree house.
Exploring more of the campus we came upon a lily pad pond with huge lilies. There is also a
butterfly garden close by. The yellow dots in the cage are
butterflies.
It was a wonderful trip while getting the chance to relax and enjoy, we also meet new friends and reconnect with families.
